Join KIIT, KISS, and the global chess community in celebrating the 13th Art of Giving Day from May 15–17.
The Art of Giving returns for its 13th edition in 2026, continuing a global movement founded in 2013 by Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta. Rooted in a simple yet powerful belief—that kindness, compassion, and sharing can transform lives and societies—the movement now spans more than 120 countries, uniting millions through small acts of generosity and human connection. This year’s theme, “Share to Shine,” celebrates the profound idea that when we share knowledge, opportunity, and encouragement, we not only help others grow but illuminate our own lives in the process.
Among the many fields where this philosophy has found meaningful expression, chess has emerged as one of the most remarkable examples. The FIDE Social Commission is proud to highlight the work of our partners, KIIT and KISS, who have placed chess at the heart of their mission for education and social inclusion.

Under the visionary leadership of Prof. Samanta, KIIT and KISS have become globally recognised not only for academic excellence but for an extraordinary commitment to chess development. At KISS, one of the world’s largest educational institutions for tribal children, chess is far more than a competitive sport—it is a medium for empowerment, nurturing concentration, confidence, and decision-making skills in thousands of students.
This dedication extends to the global stage through a growing collaboration with FIDE. Recently, KIIT had the honour of hosting the FIDE Global Conference on Chess in Society and Education, bringing together distinguished personalities from around the world to discuss the game’s role in learning and community development. The event reaffirmed a shared commitment to promoting chess as a force for human development.
KIIT has steadily established itself as a leading global centre for chess, having hosted landmark events including the prestigious FIDE World Junior Chess Championship. This journey continues with the upcoming KIIT International Chess Festival 2026, which will feature a record prize pool of ₹1.31 crore—the highest ever for a chess tournament in India. More than a competition, the festival represents a platform for opportunity, access, and the sharing of knowledge.
The chess community is now invited to join the Art of Giving movement from May 15–17, 2026. You can embrace the "Share to Shine" spirit in your own way: mentor a young player, organize a community chess activity, share your knowledge, or simply inspire someone to begin their journey with the game. Every coach who mentors a beginner, every senior player who guides a young mind, and every organizer who creates access to the game contributes to a culture of collective progress.
